Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the advantage of purchasing your package?Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is a healthy body. It takes time to investigate the root causes of your symptoms, implement changes, and to see the fruits of our labor. Meeting sporadically doesn’t allow us a chance to truly dive into your health and make tangible change. I could absolutely give you all sorts of tools to address your list of concerns, but that would be overwhelming and counterproductive. By meeting regularly throughout a personally curated program, your chances of success are much higher than if we meet once or twice, or even occasionally. We can set goals and actually measure improvements. We approach things the same way you’d approach eating a whale – one bite at a time.

I live in another state. Can you still help me?I am currently licensed to practice functional telemedicine in the states of Alaska, Arizona, and Colorado, however health coaching is available in all other states. The main difference between the services is the ability to analyze test results, diagnose, and prescribe when appropriate. I am working on getting licensed in other states that allow me to practice independently and as my services are needed.

Do you treat children?Yes! My training is as a family nurse practitioner, which provides me with the scope to treat patients from birth to natural death at any age, and I have worked in the pediatric urgent care setting. Children can potentially benefit greatly from my services so that we can establish good, lifelong, healthy habits that prevent chronic disease in the future. Send your babies my way!

Can you be my primary care provider (PCP or GP)?No. Functional medicine is an adjunct to primary care and I take a team approach to your health. The goal is to work in partnership with you and your other providers to maximize your outcomes. You will still need someone who can do regular hands-on assessments and ensure that you get referrals to specialists as needed, as well as monitor your everyday health.

Why don’t you take insurance?Insurance is a wonderful and necessary tool/benefit but can be very limiting to providers and does not traditionally cover functional medicine or health and wellness coaching. The methods used to treat you and address your health concerns in the most appropriate way for your individual needs are not usually covered by insurance, or are restricted, or require me to follow a precise pathway that includes unnecessary tests and/or procedures that are wasteful of both our time, energy, and resources. By eliminating the middleman, I am able to develop a plan of care that is designed specifically for you, and we can implement it immediately. Additionally, understanding the value of your investment will help to motivate you to stick to your plan, fostering more success. You can, however, submit receipts to your HSA account for reimbursement.
